Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic, highly motivated and dedicated clinical support worker, to join our Elective Orthopaedic Team at The Friarage Hospital Northallerton. The position is for the ring fenced Elective Orthopaedic Unit, where we care for patients who have undergone elective arthroplasty and orthopaedic surgery.

The Orthopaedic Unit also provides day zero arthrolpasy procedures, where there has been many successful hip replacement surgeries and the patient has been discharged home the same day.

Band 3 requirements - Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/ 4-9)

Care certificate

Level 3 vocational qualification

or

Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties

and/or

Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3;

- Theoretical knowledge

- Experience of a range of care and related procedures

- clinical observations

- knowledge of relevant legislation

Main duties of the job

You will work alongside Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Experience is not essential; however applicants must have a genuine interest in the speciality and be committed to delivering high quality patient care.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated people with effective communication skills.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria

1. Insight into behaviours and skills of a carer and the need for effective team work.
2. Awareness of GDPR and the need for confidentiality
3. Basic IT skills to use electronic patient records and other Trust systems.
4. Analytical and judgement skills to make decisions based on patient / service user interactions and observations and metrics
5. Understanding of the importance of robust, accurate, clear, timely documentation.
6. Knowledge of Safeguarding

Desirable criteria

7. Familiarity with current NHS and social care policies.
8. Working knowledge of STHFT policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
