Purpose & key responsibilities of the role
Lenzing Fibers Grimsby is looking to appoint a Plant Improvement Specialist. The role is responsible for identifying, developing and implementing plant improvement activities and product developments, and providing longer term technical support for the operational needs of the manufacturing facility.
Main tasks & key accountabilities
1)Production support:
Working with shift teams, manufacturing specialists, engineering and operational senior managers to develop medium- to long-term process & product improvement projects
Providing technical support and driving continuous improvement
Contributing to best practice exchange between the business units and manufacturing sites
Providing technical support to the management team, and co-ordinating shift activities during shutdowns/R&M’s to implement medium- to long-term projects
Working with shift teams, R&D and outside agencies to promote operational & quality improvements, complaint investigation, and plant de-bottlenecking
Ensuring that HS&E matters are appropriately managed throughout area of responsibility, in line withexternal and internal requirements/standards, including your own work performance and behaviour
Identifying and developing product development activities; co-ordinating with technical customer service and production departments; proposing and running trials as required
Developing a written specification for improvement projects, using contracted mechanical or electrical engineering input as required. This includes project capital justification and change management processes
Liaising with equipment suppliers and contractors to carry out evaluation trials as necessary; and providing specifications for suppliers and contract companies to obtain pricing for agreed projects
Managing the implementation of projects, including supervising contractors on installation work and working with internal Engineering and Manufacturing teams to carry out required project works and operator/engineering training
Leading and supporting the commissioning of new projects locally, and possibly globally
Contributing to the design and specification of proposals for inclusion on the Capital and Revenue budgets
Writing new SWPs, risk assessments, permits, COSHH assessments, control system FDSs, instructions and other documentation relevant to projects
Our expectations for this exciting role
Ideally, you hold a degree inChemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; alternatively, you have strong experience inLyocell technology
Previous experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is essential
You are computer literate, with proven project management experience
You have excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively alone and as part of a team
You are willing to be involved in developing the safety culture, and you candemonstrate a safe and responsible attitude
