This role is an Apprenticeship role starting as a Band 5 Learning and Development Advisor Apprentice with a view of becoming a Band 6 Learning and Development Advisor after completing and passing of the apprenticeship programme.
An Apprenticeship is a programme of work-based learning in which the successful candidate will be working towards a Level 5 qualification in Learning skills Teacher Apprenticeship. During your apprenticeship you will work towards a qualification whilst acquiring new knowledge, skills, and behaviours through on- and off-the-job training. You will gain invaluable workplace experience which will support your Apprenticeship journey.
The apprenticeship is 18-22 months, and you will be expected to complete this as part of your role and whilst completing the apprenticeship the successful candidates salary will be paid at Band 5 until successful completion of the apprenticeship programme where the salary will increase to a Band 6 salary
Main duties of the job
As a Learning and Development Advisor Apprentice you will be involved in the delivery of a portfolio of mandatory and statutory training, which will include the Seni Lewis Training Programme, Moving and Handling, Basic Life support, First Aid, Fire, Oliver McGowan and others.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. To assist in the delivery of mandatory and statutory training using a range of effective teaching and learning methods, to meet learner needs, in a range of settings (classroom-based, team training, virtual and other) based on evaluation data and training needs analysis.
2. Assess the skills acquired by learners through a range of competency assessment methods to determine their safety to practice.
3. Assist with the design of training and learning activities to meet professional, policy and legislative requirements.
4. To assist with reviewing and updating ML/Trust Learning and Development MAST curriculum including lesson plans and presentations
5. To assist with in-reach and support to clinical services
6. Maintain your own continuing professional development.
7. To work with and support people with lived experience with the co-facilitation and co-production of MAST training
8. To complete the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship with the Trusts preferred provider.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
9. •Commitment to train in areas where a current qualification is not held. E.G. BLS, GSA
10. •Evidence of GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above or Functional skills Level 2 or equivalent.
11. •Evidence of a Level 3 Award in Teaching and Education or Equivalent
Desirable criteria
12. •GSA registered tutor (General Services Association).
13. •Teaching Basic Life Support, First Aid, Moving and handling and other Adult Learning
14. •Evidence of on-going professional development to address requirements of the Job Description
Experience
Essential criteria
15. •Clinical experience as a practitioner in a mental health setting/health & social care setting for at least two years
16. •Experience of working in a complex multi-professional environment
17. •Experience using Microsoft application and other platforms, e.g PowerPoint to support learning.
18. •Experience of teaching for at least one year
Desirable criteria
19. •Experience in education and training relating to mental health services.
20. •Experience of multi professional working.
21. •Lived experience of mental health either as patient or carer.
22. •Experience of formal assessment of learning.
23. •Experience in delivering and evaluating training for a range of learners within a variety of settings.

24. •Effective communication skills (both written and oral) to present ideas with clarity and in a persuasive and influential style. This includes the ability to tailor communication styles to engage with a range of staff
25. •Able to work on your own initiative, prioritise and manage workload effectively to meet deadlines.
26. •Able to work constructively as a member of a team in order to meet objectives.
27. • When delivering training ensuring we have taken into account learning styles, Equality and Diversity and Inclusion taking advantage of the latest technology, to enhance and meet learners experience.
28. •Maintain knowledge of relevant current legislation, organisational procedures trends in practice, policies and professional codes of conduct in order to maintain high standards.
Desirable criteria
29. •Knowledge of recent developments and trends in patient safety e.g Resuscitation Council UK, Reducing Restraint and Restrictive Practice
30. •An understanding of evidence-based practice and its application to health care.
