About this job

The Patient Safety Partner (PSP) is a key member of The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient centred care.

The postholder works collaboratively with staff, patients, families and carers to support the development, implementation and monitoring of patient safety initiatives.

They bring the lived experience of patients and carers into decision making processes, ensuring that safety systems, improvement work and governance arrangements are grounded in the real needs and experiences of those using our services.

The PSP contributes to patient safety oversight groups, quality improvement projects, incident learning processes and strategic planning, championing openness, transparency and continuous improvement across the Trust.

The expectation of this role is two days (approx 15 hours) per month paid at a rate of £150 per day.

Contribute to the development and review of Trust wide patient safety policies, frameworks and improvement plans.

Participate in relevant meetings such as the Clinical Governance meetings, Clinical Quality Group meetings, Patient Experience Group Meetings and Improvement Programme Boards.

Provide constructive challenge and assurance to ensure safety risks, themes and actions are appropriately prioritised and addressed.

Support the integration and development of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) across the Trust.

Promote a culture of openness, learning and psychological safety in all areas of practice.

* Participate in patient safety incident reviews, learning responses and thematic analyses by providing a patient/carer perspective.
