Oldham Council | Locum | Up to £39 per hour Children’s Social Worker – Safeguarding & Care Planning Fieldwork | Minimum 3 Days Office-Based | Oldham Oldham Council is seeking experienced Children’s Social Workers to join our Safeguarding and Care Planning Teams. We are looking for candidates with solid frontline experience, particularly in court work and child protection, who can confidently manage complex cases and contribute to high-quality outcomes for children and families. Role Overview: You’ll work as part of an experienced team to: Deliver effective safeguarding and care planning services for children and young people Manage caseloads involving Child in Need, Child Protection, and Care Proceedings Prepare and present court reports, assessments, and evidence-based recommendations Build strong, supportive relationships with children, families, and partner agencies Apply systemic practice to understand family dynamics and improve long-term outcomes Essential Requirements: Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England Proven experience in child protection and court work Ability to manage complex caseloads within a safeguarding and care planning setting Strong assessment, risk analysis, and intervention skills Commitment to reflective practice and continuous improvement Working Arrangements: Fieldwork role with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office Hybrid working in place for the remaining days Supportive team environment with access to CPD and clear progression pathways Additional Benefits: Competitive pay up to £39 per hour Ongoing support and manageable caseloads Career development opportunities within a forward-thinking service To apply or find out more, contact Ellis Russell at Sheldon Phillips: (phone number removed) Refer a friend and receive £300 if we place them!
