Lessons are carefully adapted to meet each pupil’s health needs and aligned, where possible, with their home school curriculum. Teaching may take place one-to-one or in small groups, helping students stay engaged with science despite the challenges of hospital treatment. The role also involves close collaboration with healthcare staff to ensure learning is appropriate and supportive. By creating a positive and flexible learning environment, the science teacher helps maintain a sense of normality, builds confidence, and supports pupils in successfully transitioning back to their mainstream education.
