3 months contract with a local authority Job Purpose As the Registered Manager, you will lead a team of care professionals to ensure the short overnight break service meets the needs of its families. You will be managing change and advising on policies, responding to emergencies, and overseeing budgeting and financial reporting. You will also undertake the role of Designated Safeguard Lead for the home and respond effectively to any and all safeguarding concerns and play a key role within the Children and Young People Disability Team. Key Duties/Accountabilities Provide a planned and safe environment which gives care, control, and nurture, appropriate to maintaining and promoting the emotional and physical well-being of children and young people in accordance with Looked After Children arrangements (LAC) involving family members as much as possible. Lead and manage a staff group to ensure effective services are offered to children and young people who are in need of a positive and supportive respite placement. Advise on policies and procedures to reflect the severe and complex disabilities of the clients, the aims and objectives of the respite children’s home to develop systems for monitoring progress towards the achievement of such aims. Draft and revise the statement of purpose and monitor on a monthly basis in line with the requirements of Ofsted. Assess the developmental needs of the children and to monitor and improve the home’s care plan and practices for each child/young person. Essential Experience Required Experience of managing, motivating, and developing multiple teams of staff involving different workstreams Experience of managing staffing budgets Significant relevant professional experience post qualification in a similar work environment. Significant experience of leading complex and diverse areas of work involving a wide range of contacts which has a high impact on the organization Essential Qualification Required Qualification in social work or directly relevant profession e.g. nursing, teaching OR NVQ Level 4 – Social Care or Caring for Children & Young People Management qualification Knowledge of National Children’s Home Regulation 2015 Quality Care standards Social work/childcare legislation including child protection and safer care Current policy trends in disability, community care, and childcare. Current practice trends in disability, community care, and child care Additional information to note Working hours: 30 hours per week. Must hold a valid UK driving licence.
