About The Role
We are seeking a General Operative - Rigging Loft Controller to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
Role Purpose
To manage and control all rigging equipment within the designated rigging loft, ensuring equipment is stored, inspected, issued, and maintained in line with project procedures and statutory requirements.
Responsibilities
Rigging Loft Control Duties
* Control the issue, return, and tracking of all lifting and rigging equipment (e.g. slings, shackles, chains, lifting accessories)
* Maintain accurate records of equipment status, certification, and inspection dates
* Ensure all equipment is compliant with statutory requirements and fit for use
* Quarantine and report defective or out-of-date equipment
* Coordinate with lifting teams, supervisors, and logistics to ensure timely availability of equipment
* Maintain organisation and layout of the rigging loft to ensure safe and efficient operations
* Support audits and inspections relating to lifting equipment and compliance
General Operative Duties (as Required)
* Support site logistics, material handling, and general construction activities
* Assist with loading/unloading and movement of materials
* Maintain housekeeping standards within the rigging loft and wider site
* Support laydown and storage area organisation
* Follow all site procedures, permits, and method statements
Key Accountabilities
* Full control and traceability of rigging equipment
* Ensuring compliance with lifting regulations and site procedures
* Flexibility to transition between rigging loft and general operative duties
* Supporting safe and efficient lifting operations across the project
Qualifications
Required
* CSCS Card (or equivalent)
* Previous experience working with lifting equipment, rigging, or site logistics
* Good understanding of lifting accessories and inspection requirements
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with site teams
Desirable
* Slinger/Signaller (Banksman) qualification
* Experience working in a rigging loft or controlled stores environment
* Knowledge of LOLER requirements and lifting equipment compliance
* Experience on large-scale infrastructure or energy projects
