Location: London (Hybrid – 4 days office / 1 day home working after probation)

Salary range: £29,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role
This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a motivated and creative individual to start their career in environmental film production and campaigning.
As Production Assistant, you will play a vital supporting role within EJF’s Film Unit — helping to research, edit, and organise visual content that strengthens our campaigns. You will learn from experienced producers and editors, gaining hands-on experience in documentary and campaign filmmaking, research, and digital storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
5. Support pre-production research, including desk-based location scouting, logistics, and preparation of concise briefs
6. Assist in fact-checking and proofreading scripts, captions, and reports
7. Select highlights from rushes and compile clip reels for producers and editors
8. Support the creation of engaging short videos for social media and events
9. Prepare graphics, text, and subtitles; make amendments following feedback
10. Organise and archive digital assets — processing and tagging photos and footage
11. Help source archive, fair-use footage, and music for editors
12. Contribute creative ideas and support for new content across campaigns
13. Assist the Film Unit in day-to-day tasks to ensure smooth production workflows
Essential Skills and Attributes
14. Strong attention to detail, factual accuracy, and organisational skills
15. Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro
16. Basic knowledge of After Effects, Audition, Photoshop or Lightroom
17. Understanding of social media formats and trends
18. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
19. A collaborative mindset - comfortable taking direction and feedback
20. A genuine interest in environmental and human rights issues
21. A willingness to learn, adapt and develop technical and creative skills
Desirable Skills
22. Experience filming or using cameras in field or studio environments
23. Experience using InDesign, Illustrator, or other design tools
24. Basic understanding of editing workflows or file structuring
25. Foreign language skills
