About Group Internal Audit GIA is the third line of defence within the Skipton Building Society Group, providing independent insight, assurance and opinions to stakeholders at all levels. We help the Society achieve its strategic objectives by taking an agile approach to assess risk management, controls and governance processes, protecting the interests of our members and customers. In this role, you’ll work with GIA colleagues to review systems and controls, deliver audit assignments, and provide feedback on key risks to support action plans. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across the Group - up to and including Ex ec members - sharing insights and influencing outcomes. What Will You Be Doing? Reporting to the Head of Audit for Prudential & Financial Risk, you’ll play a key role in delivering high - quality assurance work across the Group. This is a varied and impactful role where you’ll work closely with stakeholders to identify risks and support effective solutions. Your responsibilities will include: Contributing to the delivery of a range of risk-focused audit reviews as guided by your leader. Using Agile principles, your work will be of high quality and delivered timely in line with GIA Methodology and Report Writing Standards. Communicating and collaborating with stakeholders in the business to agree appropriate actions to address risks identified through your assurance work. Monitoring risk data and associated key risk indicators as directed by your leader to support GIA’s continuous monitoring. To support this, you will attend governance committees and forums as directed by your leader. Supporting GIA’s continuous improvement culture and taking responsibility for your personal development. What Do We Need From You We’re looking for someone who combines technical knowledge with excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive mindset. You’ll be confident working independently but also thrive in a collaborative environment where influencing and building relationships are key. Knowledge U nderstanding of the Prudential and Financial risk environment. Part-qualified accountant or similar qualification. Experience Experience of working in an Internal Audit environment and/or Financial Services. Be able to work independently with limited direction and supervision. Be able to lead smaller/ less complex reviews end to end and lead technical elements of larger reviews. S kills Ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels. High attention to detail. Ability to raise queries, challenge existing practices and negotiate to achieve the right outcomes. Effective communication skills (both verbal and written) and listening skills. Ability to liaise with senior stakeholders and co-source partners (where required) to ensure the successful delivery of audit work. Enthusiasm and self-motivation to drive delivery and provide excellent customer service. Embracing agile principles to plan and effectively re-prioritise and deliver your workload.
