The UK Contract Lead will report to the General Counsel BA Europe and dotted line to the Regional General Managers for Honeywell Building Solutions (HBS) UK & Nordics. As a Contracts Lead, you will become a member of the regional leadership team and provide legal advice on all commercial matters in the region.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Review customer contract terms and conditions and make necessary amendments to align them with our terms and conditions policy and market practice.
2. Participate as a key member of the negotiating team in contract discussions with customers and suppliers.
3. Actively support the Cloud Connection strategy for our BA Service Business.
4. Coordinate with other Honeywell functions to obtain input relative to their areas of expertise, consolidate and incorporate issues of concern into risk containment recommendations.
5. Provide experienced advice and guidance to global and regional leadership/ various functions.
6. Support Project Management and execution in any legal post-contract disputes.
7. Support and function as a focal point for external law firms to manage litigations.
8. Provide timely monthly reports of contract metrics and complex legal issues.
9. Liaise with other contract managers and General Counsels throughout the Honeywell group.
Knowledge & Qualification:
Solid knowledge of UK construction law civil, trade and contracting laws.
Solid Knowledge of IP & privacy laws to successfully support the Cloud connection strategy
Knowledge in public procurement law is a plus.
Expertise and solid experience in contract negotiation principles and techniques.
Understanding of financial concepts and impact of contract terms on those concepts.
Ability to work in a matrix organization and support the business from a functional leadership perspective.
Education & Experience:
Education: UK Legal degree
Any additional legal or commercial education is a bonus
Experience: 7+ years SQE in commercial business or industry, preferably large companies in construction or technology industries.
Experience with high quality, high-cost products, services, and/or complex projects is a bonus
Experience in contractual dispute management.
Sound experience in analyzing contract terms & conditions and intelligent assessment of risks.
Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
