Post Of: Consultant in Ophthalmology (Cornea)
A part‑time 6‑PA post as a substantive Consultant in Cornea Ophthalmology is available at the Oxford Eye Hospital. The ideal candidate must have completed CCT or equivalent (CESR) and must be on the specialist register. CCT fellowship in Cornea ophthalmology is essential. The 6 PAs are apportioned 5 PAs for direct clinical care (DCC) and 1 PA for supporting professional activity (SPA) with on‑call commitment. This post is a medical post with an aspect of surgical activity built into the job plan.

Responsibilities
* Provide medical and surgical corneal sub‑specialist expertise for patients presenting with acute and chronic corneal disease and trauma, based in the emergency and outpatient clinics and providing surgical intervention.
* Manage new referrals and existing patients already under the care of Ophthalmology and following cataract, glaucoma and retinal surgery.
* Participate in multidisciplinary interaction with other sub‑specialties within Ophthalmology, including Optometry.
* Engage in the clinical trials unit and pursue research opportunities.
* Participate on the consultant on‑call rota (mandatory).
* Support on‑call commitments in line with the allocated 1 PA for supporting professional activity.
Qualifications
* Completed CCT or equivalent (CESR) and registered on the specialist register.
* CCT fellowship in Cornea ophthalmology is essential.
* Must be on the GMC specialist register or within 6 months of doing so at the time of interview.
* Open to applications from candidates wishing to job‑share.
