Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute both to the Doctorate in Educational and Child Psychology (DEdCPsy) initial training course and the development of the profession. The DEdCPsy is a three-year full-time programme approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) as a course of professional Doctoral training in Educational Psychology. It is designed to give students the skills, competencies and HCPC registration required to practise as an educational psychologist. You will support teaching, practical placements and research supervision for the DEdCPsy course. You will supervise trainee Educational Psychologists and participate in other forms of in-service training. You will join the existing tutor team in coordinating and delivering the full range of activities on the DEdCPsy, as well as supporting the delivery of learning and teaching activities across relevant areas of the School’s portfolio.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
1. Develop and deliver seminars for the Doctorate in Education and Child Psychology programme across all year groups which includes:
2. Identifying learning objectives in line with the appropriate curricula.
3. Selecting appropriate teaching methods, resources and reading, and reviewing, designing and producing study material.
4. Reflecting on your own teaching and implementing ideas for improving your own performance.
5. Plan and prioritise your own work, and forward plan in line with course and departmental requirements up to five years for some tasks.
6. Keep up to date with developments in practice in your area of expertise.
7. Attend and participate in admissions processes and selection interview panels.
8. Undertake bi-annual progression reviews with allocated trainees in all three year groups.
9. Support and liaise with allocated Fieldwork Tutors in relation to their support of Year 1 trainees.
10. Contribute to relevant areas of scholarship education and leadership across the School of Education.
11. Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.

* Hold a degree in Psychology plus a further qualification in Educational Psychology (Application)
* Fully qualified HCPC registered Educational Psychologist (Application)
* Experience in designing and delivering in-service training, and supervision of students (Application and Interview)
* Ability to design and deliver specified DEdCPsy seminars across all year groups, identifying learning objectives in line with the appropriate curricula defined by BPS/HCPC learning outcomes. (Application and Interview)
* Knowledge of systems, policies, legislation and quality standards relevant to the practice of educational psychology. (Application and Interview)
* Effective communication skills including written, verbal and interpersonal. Ability to communicate and liaise effectively and sensitively with staff, tutors and external university partners at all levels. (Application and Interview)
* Ability to assess and organise resources, and plan and progress work activities, to manage workload and meet deadlines. (Application and Interview)
* Ability to undertake consistent assessment of student work set against guidance criteria, to contribute to course evaluation and to reflect upon own performance. (Application and Interview)
* Ability to effectively arrange and oversee the placement of TEPs within local authority services, to build strong relationships with local services and to sensitively problem solve placement issues arising. (Application and Interview)
