Short-term Research Assistant position in Biosciences Research.
The School of Science, Psychology, Arts and Humanities, Computing, Engineering and Sport (SPACES) at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) welcomes applications for a Research Assistant to help develop new cancer therapies that utilise functionalised nanoparticles within 3D model systems that mimic tumour growth. This position will give you ideal experience in cancer research, helping to develop your laboratory skills in Molecular Cell Biology; particularly tissue culture, ex-ovo CAM model, fluorescence microscopy, drug delivery and cell-based assays. Previous knowledge of molecular biology techniques would be advantageous, although training will be provided if needed. This project is supported by collaborations of the Cancer biology group at CCCU (Dr Emilia Bertolo-Pardo, Dr Carol Trim, Dr Lee Byrne and Dr Cornelia Wilson) and Dr Carlos Lodeiro, Associate Professor at the New University of Lisbon, Portugal.The project will be based at the Life Sciences Industry Liaison Laboratory at Discovery Park in Sandwich. Funding is available to support a Research Assistant for 11 weeks. It is expected that the successful candidate would be available to start in March, but there is some flexibility on the start date, and part time options may be possible.
Duties and responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities for this position will include support of cancer projects focused on nanoparticles drug delivery including work with 3D models, tissue culture, ex-ovo CAM model, fluorescence microscopy, drug delivery and cell-based assays.
Skills and experience
Previous knowledge of molecular biology techniques would be advantageous, although training will be provided if needed.
