The Power Supply Design Engineer is responsible for the electrical design, development, and delivery of high-performance AC-DC switch-mode power supplies, ensuring they meet performance, cost, and manufacturability targets. The role requires 5+ years of hands-on experience in power supply design and includes both technical design work and mentoring of junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Development
* Design all sections of AC-DC switch-mode power supplies.
* Optimise designs to meet technical specifications, cost, and project timelines.
* Ensure manufacturability, reliability, and ease of integration for mass production.
* Select and manage electronic components considering availability, cost, and obsolescence.
* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary R&D teams (electrical, mechanical, manufacturing).
* Innovate and apply new technologies and topologies in product design.
Documentation & Project Delivery
* Create and review engineering documentation to support manufacturing handover.
* Participate in design reviews, testing, and verification activities.
* Ensure all project deliverables and milestones are met.
* Report design status and resolve technical queries.
Customer & Cross-functional Support
* Work closely with other departments to meet project needs and customer expectations.
* Provide ongoing technical support and respond to design-related queries.
Key Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field.
* 5+ years experience in AC-DC switch-mode power supply design.
* Strong knowledge of:
* Power topologies
* EMC and thermal management
* Magnetic, analogue, and digital circuit design
* Experience in design from concept through to production.
* Excellent documentation and communication skills.
* Self-motivated, collaborative team player with a proactive approach.
