Development Test Technician in NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) Test (985)
Location: Cranfield
Length of contract – 12 months with the intension to extend
Pay rate: £18.64 - £19.67 p/h

We are recruiting a Development Test Technician for one of our automotive clients based in Cranfield. You will be working for a globally recognised automotive company. This is a long-term contract role. The contract is on an ongoing basis a may run for several years.

Key Responsibilities of the Development Test Technician:

- Preparation / building / maintenance of vehicles or components for test in line with local procedures and the clients Engineering Manuals.
- Testing in static and dynamic conditions to gather accurate, timely, and quality test data/results.
- Evaluation and concern identification on completion of test, including liaison with Test Engineer.
- Use skills to provide support to other sections as required.
- Assemble and disassemble vehicle parts and components for static and dynamic testing.
- Set up equipment and instrumentation for accurate test execution.
- Collaborate with Test and Design Engineers to conduct tests that meet the clients’ high standards.
- Analyse test data, identify concerns, and propose effective solutions.
- Assist with facility management, including maintenance, calibration, risk assessment, and training.
- Support raising / issue of test reports and consult with test / design engineers to close concern items.
- Learn bespoke systems required to fulfil role
- Fully proficient in the fundamental practical mechanical / Electrical skills required for this role.
- Ability to work safely and comply with legal and company safety policies.
- Basic Excel data management and graph creation skills.
- A good knowledge of Word and PowerPoint for report writing & presentation preparation.
- Excellent organisational skills
- Strong diligence
- Be able to work independently to manage and prioritise their own and workload

Qualifications & Experience for the Body Electronics Engineer:

- Ideally C&G / BTEC L3 in mechanical or automotive or Electrical engineering with a recognised apprenticeship.
- Experience within vehicle or component test environments is preferred but not essential.
- Fundamental understanding of vehicle dis-assembly, assembly, & maintenance techniques or ability to demonstrate same skills in an alternative field
- Vehicle system knowledge with the ability to fault find.
- Understanding of component measurement techniques
- Instrumentation set-up
- Electronic / Electrical background (preferably automotive)
- Test rig experience (General)
- Basic Machining / Welding / Fabrication preferred but not essential.
- Computer literacy (word processing)
- Data analysis & Report writing
- Facility & instrumentation calibration
- Use skills to provide support to other test sections as required.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new internal process, portals, documents.
