Our Pensions Administration business continues to grow and we are now looking for an experienced Deputy Pensions Manager to join our vibrant Reading office with hybrid working. This is an exciting role and would most likely suit someone with previous experience in a similar role where they have gained knowledge and experience of Defined Contribution pension schemes and people management skills.
The Role
* Oversee the various DC administration tasks completed by the team, e.g., handling of leavers, retirements, transfers, and deaths.
* Monitor accuracy, performance, and SLAs for the team, including activity and client performances, and take action to ensure targets are met.
* Liaise with the Administration Manager regarding appraisals and regular catch-up meetings. Conduct some appraisals and mentoring sessions with staff on probation.
* Identify training needs and assist with developing and mentoring team members.
* Ensure accurate updates of the time recording system for all activities.
* Resolve problems proactively and own issues, providing solutions to management when needed.
* Prepare, check, and issue administration bills, and update internal schedules and spreadsheets accordingly.
* Manage day-to-day activities of staff to ensure efficient delivery of work, holding regular workflow meetings.
* Participate in marketing and new business activities, including tender responses and presentations.
* Provide technical advice on pensions queries, keeping abreast of legislative developments and supporting junior staff.
Your profile
Essential Criteria
* Expert knowledge of pensions administration activities applicable to various schemes.
* Experience with Defined Contributions (DC) schemes, including leavers, retirements, deaths, transfers, and reporting.
* Understanding of current pensions legislation and regulatory requirements.
* Previous supervisory or workflow management experience, including performance monitoring and recruitment.
* Strong GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
* Experience in third-party pensions administration or in-house pensions department.
* Presentational skills for pitches and trustee meetings are desirable.
