Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Transport Planner to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and optimising transportation routes, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining efficient supply chain operations. Duties
* Develop and optimise transportation routes to maximise efficiency and minimise costs.
* Coordinate with drivers, suppliers, and clients to schedule deliveries and pickups.
* Monitor delivery progress and resolve any logistical issues promptly.
* Utilise Microsoft Office programmes such as Word, Excel, and Outlook to prepare reports, schedules, and correspondence.
* Maintain accurate records of shipments, schedules, and vehicle maintenance logs.
* Analyse data to identify areas for process improvement within the supply chain.
* Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless operations.
* Lead and motivate team members to achieve operational targets while maintaining high standards of customer service.
Experience
* Proven management experience within logistics or supply chain environments.
* Experience with Weighsoft, Waste management, Skips, Arctics and Tippers desirable
* Strong driving skills with a valid driving licence.
* Extensive knowledge of logistics principles, supply chain processes, and optimisation strategies. Ideally knowledge of Surrey and West Sussex areas.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook; IT literacy is essential.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
* Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
* Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to manage teams efficiently.
* Experience in customer service roles is advantageous but not essential.
* Familiarity with computerised planning systems or transport management software is desirable.
