Position: Visitor Experience Assistant
Type: Permanent, Part-time - Annualised: 1000 hours
Location: Midlands
Salary: £12,280.09 per annum
We operate two public sites (London and Midlands) and manage a stored collection (Stafford). Our trading activities and active fundraising supplement the Grant in Aid from the Ministry of Defence.
The Royal Air Force Museum is a Carbon Literate organisation and promotes Carbon Literacy.
We are looking to appoint two Visitor Experience Assistants on an annualised contract.
The ideal candidates will have previous visitor-facing experience, preferably in leisure or heritage sectors. They should be confident communicators, team players, and adaptable to a dynamic environment. Flexibility is essential as roles may vary.
Responsibilities include supporting evening events such as gala dinners, sleepovers, and outdoor film nights. A supportive 'host' role for corporate clients and partners is desirable.
These roles are permanent, part-time, working 1000 hours annually. Weekly hours depend on business needs, with a maximum of 35 hours during peak season and a minimum of 4 hours during off-peak times. The schedule includes weekends, bank holidays, and occasional evenings or overnights.
The position is based at our Midlands site.
Job Requirements
Willingness and ability to obtain First Aid qualification.
Job Responsibilities
* Provide high standards of customer care, welcoming all visitors warmly.
* Enhance the visitor experience by sharing knowledge of the Museum, its collections, and stories.
* Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and condition of front-of-house facilities, reporting issues as needed.
* Support the management of volunteers involved in front-of-house activities.
* Assist with commercial and fundraising activities, including collections.
* Understand and promote the Museum's products and offers.
* Safeguard visitors, colleagues, and assets discreetly and sensitively, responding appropriately to incidents.
* Report any defects related to facilities, exhibits, or interpretation.
