Specialist Mentor MH – Mental Health Support

Location: Bangor University

Rate of Pay: £23.88 accrued holiday pay

Contract: Part‑time, with flexible hours

Start Date: September 2026 (for the new 2026/2027 Academic Year)

Responsibilities

  • Work one‑on‑one with students to provide tailored support
  • Help students achieve a healthy balance between daily living activities and academic tasks
  • Improve organisational skills, including effective time management
  • Assist students in preparing for deadlines by breaking down assignments into manageable steps
  • Support students in managing stress and anxiety related to their studies or daily life
  • Guide students in reflecting on their personal and academic experiences
  • Boost students' confidence by identifying and building upon their existing strengths
  • Maintain close communication with Randstad and report any student concerns promptly
  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality at all times

Requirements

This is a specialist role. You must hold active membership with at least one of the recognised professional organisations at the required level. Please refer to pages 8 & 9 of the specialist mentor qualification matrix to verify your eligibility.

Desired Skills & Attributes

  • High level of empathy and a deep understanding of others' needs
  • Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities or learning difficulties
  • Reliable, responsible and professional demeanour
  • Excellent personal organisational and time management skills
