Role Description

This Project Design Engineer (AutoCAD) role is a full-time office-based position located in Newbury. In this role, you will be carrying out installation designs for our advanced climate control systems. Designs will be used to support our AV and BMS installers within commercial, residential and hospitality buildings, using AutoCAD to produce detailed layouts, system schematics, and control system designs.

You will work closely with installers, distributors, and internal engineering teams to ensure that system designs meet technical requirements and customer specifications. The role combines design engineering, technical support, and system development, contributing to the delivery of reliable and innovative building control solutions.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

* Creating HVAC project designs, layouts, and control system schematics in AutoCAD for customer buildings
* Supporting installers and distributors with system specification, configuration guidance, and technical queries
* Providing 2nd line technical support for control systems and BMS installations
* Assisting with pre-sales technical support, helping customers identify the most suitable system solutions
* Supporting hardware and firmware testing and validation for new and existing products
* Developing test rigs and demonstration panels to support engineering validation and customer demonstrations
* Performing structured troubleshooting and root cause analysis to diagnose technical issues
* Producing technical documentation, system design specifications, and engineering guidance materials
* Assisting with technical training sessions for installers, distributors, and internal teams

Qualifications

* Experience in project design and engineering, including creating technical drawings and layouts using AutoCAD
* Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles, particularly in HVAC controls and automation systems
* Ability to manage multiple design tasks while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), HVAC controls, or IoT-based building technologies is advantageous
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline) or equivalent industry experience
