Age 16–18: £7.96 per hour — 40 hours per week (including time at college)
Age 19–20: £11.06 per hour — 40 hours per week (including time at college)
Age 21+: £12.21 per hour (rising to £12.71 in April) — 40 hours per week (including time at college)

What does a life as a customer service specialist?
A Customer Service Specialist (Level 3) apprenticeship gives you the chance to become the “go‑to” person for complex customer queries and high‑quality service delivery. You’ll gain hands‑on experience managing enquiries across phone, email and face‑to‑face channels, resolving issues, supporting service improvements and working closely with internal teams. Throughout the programme, you’ll develop strong communication and problem‑solving skills, learn how to use systems and CRM tools effectively, and build a solid understanding of our products, services and customer needs — all while helping to shape a positive customer experience.
The apprenticeship course will cover the following: -
1. Introduction to business administration within an accommodation and housing
2. Managing customer enquiries via phone, email or face‑to‑face
3. Investigating and resolving complaints
4. Supporting service improvements
5. Updating customer records and systems
6. Working with internal teams to resolve issues
7. Providing accurate advice and guidance
8. Monitoring service performance and customer feedback
9. Developing effective communication skills, including answering calls and responding to emails professionally, all as part of our Rotherham Repairs and Maintenance contract
What do you need to be a successful applicant: -
10. The ability to travel to your branch when required
11. A genuine desire to learn and develop strong technical knowledge, including the skills, technology, and safety procedures needed to carry out the full range of tasks
12. Strong communication skills
13. Ability to build and maintain positive customer and client relationships
14. Please note due to the nature of the role, successful applicants must complete a basic Maths and English assessment

22. All applicants must submit their CV and complete the apprenticeship questionnaire via the Mears Careers website
23. If shortlisted, you will be contacted to confirm whether you have been selected for the next stage - this may be an assessment centre or an individual interview
24. Please note: as part of the selection process, you will be required to complete a basic maths and English test, similar to the assessments needed to join the college
