About us

Our purpose is simple, to save lives at sea. As we launch into our third century, we are looking for an engaging SHE professional, with a dynamic approach, to join our team and help us continue to develop and enhance our approach to keeping our people safe across the RNLI. Although a Regional role predominantly supporting the South East Region, you will be working closely with the central safety team and have a range of responsibilities that will be key to driving organisational improvement as well as regional.

Your role

As a Regional SHE Lead, you will sit as a core member of the Regional Leadership Team and provide direct SME advice and assurance to those with safety responsibilities. You will provide advice, training, guidance and assurance across the RNLI, both afloat and ashore, working with staff, volunteers and contract business partners.

About you

To be considered for the role of Regional SHE Lead, you will need to be able to demonstrate occupational health and safety management or leadership experience in a dynamic or complex environment. You will hold an NVQ Level 6 (or equivalent) in Occupational Health and Safety, and be a member of IOSH at Certified level, or above, and actively working towards Chartered status. You should also hold an environmental qualification.

Risk management, H&S training, assurance activity, supporting with compliance activity, and developing and reviewing safety related policies will all have been routine activities for you. You will have experience of leading or influencing teams to deliver meaningful change and be able to prioritise workloads and conflicting demands to problem solve and deliver results to drive continuous improvement.

You will be confident providing written and oral briefings to senior leaders, managers and volunteers and acting as the RNLIs local expert on, Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) matters. You will be someone who can inspire, influence and adapt with a can-do attitude in a dynamic organisational environment.

You will be happy to travel extensively throughout the Region including overnight stays.

This post requires a valid driving licence.
