Quantity Surveyor (NEC/Rail & Civils)
Location: South Yorkshire or Kent (Hybrid/Flexible). Up to £500/day (Inside IR35).
Overview
Opportunity to work as a Quantity Surveyor based either in South Yorkshire or Kent, or predominantly remote within the UK. This is a 6‑month initial contract (likely to be extended) with a hybrid, flexible working model and requires very minimal travel.
Responsibilities
* Manage contractual risks, variations and change‑management processes across both geotechnical (60%) and structural (40%) projects.
* Maximise monthly valuations and ensure timely submission, assessment and approval processes.
* Lead regular meetings and maintain strong, assertive, and confident relationships with clients and delivery teams.
* Review, negotiate, and agree contractual terms for upcoming tenders and high‑risk projects.
* Protect the company’s contractual positions and robustly manage variations and final accounts.
* Handle a small amount of subcontract procurement with minimal reporting requirements (CDR reports) compared to Tier‑1 contractors.
Qualifications
* Strong NEC contract competency and experience, as NEC covers approximately 75% of the workload.
* Ideally experience within civil engineering, rail or geotechnical.
* A strong background in managing variations, applications and protecting commercial positions.
