Operations Technician : EXTEND role at BBC
Location: Central Square, Cardiff. Contract: Permanent, Full Time. Salary: £26,000-£29,000 per annum depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. Flexible working will be part of discussion at offer stage. Welsh language skills are desirable for this role.

Purpose of the Role
As part of the TV Presentation operation at Central Square in Cardiff, the Media Control Team look after content for a number of clients and services. Ingesting from live feeds, taking delivery of camera cards, organising file transfers and working with archive, scheduling and media management systems. They ensure all recorded content for transmission on S4C is correctly delivered and technically compliant, including handling late delivery and complex productions. They support continuous linear transmission and delivery to on-demand platforms, working with BBC Wales Post Production and teams in other parts of Nations Business and Operations.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
* Working within a shift-based team, covering 7 days per week, 365 days a year.
* Processing daily deliveries of S4C programmes and other content, working with S4C libraries and scheduling teams. Performing high-level checks to ensure compliance with the BBC’s delivery standards.
* Planning, processing, and delivering files for post production, including ingest from camera cards and live capture, and accessing files from other systems and archives.
* Providing live playout of content for transmission.
* Working autonomously, and often alone, handling complex and unplanned requirements.
* Communicating promptly with colleagues and key stakeholders to ensure smooth post production and transmission activities.
* Becoming competent in systems including Dalet, Avid and EVS for loading and reviewing content and constructing edit sequences from multiple original files.
* Prompt reporting and escalation of any technical or operational issues.
Essential Criteria
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Experience of working collaboratively in a small team with technical, engineering and production colleagues.
* Experience of working to fixed deadlines with minimal supervision.
* Experience of working to strict guidelines with meticulous attention to detail.
* Experience of using software for creating or editing content.
* Experience of dealing with multiple stakeholders and balancing priorities.
Desirable But Not Required
* Knowledge of Avid and/or Adobe Premiere.
* Experience of using Media Asset Management systems.
