We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen operations, ensuring that meal preparation runs smoothly and efficiently. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about food and eager to develop their skills in a dynamic catering or restaurant environment.
Duties
* Assist in the preparation of meals, including chopping, slicing, and cooking ingredients as directed by the head cook or chef.
* Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment by washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately.
* Support the culinary team in catering events, ensuring that food safety standards are adhered to at all times.
* Help with inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying supervisors when supplies are low.
* Participate in food preparation tasks for special events or large orders as required.
* Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all staff members.
Requirements
* Previous experience in a kitchen setting, preferably within catering or restaurant environments, is desirable but not essential.
* A basic understanding of food safety practices and culinary techniques is an advantage.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
* A passion for cooking and willingness to learn new skills within the culinary field.
* Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the kitchen schedule.
