Role Overview
The post is a postgraduate training scheme for Genomics and Molecular Pathology available in the Aberdeen Genetics Laboratory Service, based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI). The laboratory provides a high‑quality genomic testing service for NHS Grampian and the rest of Scotland through the Scottish Genomic Network, and offers services for inherited conditions, acquired disease (solid and haematological malignancies) and pharmacogenomics.
Eligibility & Qualifications
* First or Upper Second Class BSc Honours Degree in Genetics, or an appropriate biological subject.
Training Programme
The training will follow an agreed training programme framework, enabling the trainee to build a portfolio of evidence for assessment and subsequent registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Scientist.
Support
Clinical Scientist training within Genomics and Molecular Pathology is supported by Public Services Delivery Scotland.
Start Date and Shift Pattern
Post will commence in September 2026. Shift pattern is Monday‑Friday, 36 hours per week.
