The post will commence on 5th January 2026

The Governors of the Hollies Special School wish to appoint a highly creative, passionate, and committed Primary Teacher who wants to achieve the very highest standards of teaching and learning for our pupils.

The post is temporary to cover the maternity leave of the permanent post holder and will continue until 31/10/2026 or the resumption/resignation of the permanent post holder, whichever is sooner.

We are looking to appoint a teacher who has experience of teaching in a specialist setting and who understands autism and its’ associated learning needs.

The Hollies is a local authority day special school catering for pupils 4-11 years old who have a diagnosis of Autism. The school serves the whole of the City and County of Cardiff and currently has 155 pupils on roll.

We are committed to providing personalised learning experiences so that every child can communicate, interact, grow, and develop to the best of their ability. Together with families, we can ensure that our children have the skills and knowledge to manage everyday life as independently as they can and to lead happy and successful lives.

You will need to:

•Be a good and outstanding teacher with successful teaching experience in a special education or mainstream setting.

•Have a thorough understanding of working with pupils with ALN, ASD

•Be able to work as part of a highly effective team.

•Have excellent communication and IT skills.

•Have Qualified Teacher Status

We are looking for someone who will contribute to the wider life of the school and who is able to make an impact beyond their own classroom. Candidates need to have high expectations for all pupils to reach their full potential enabling them to flourish.

Requests may only be approved by the relevant Chief Officer or senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2 or in the case of schools based staff the Headteacher / Governing Body.
