On behalf of our client, we are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join their team. In this role you will oversee the financial operations of the organisation, ensuring financial reporting is accurate, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. This position requires strong leadership and people management skills and a deep understanding of financial management principles. You will be responsible for leading the Finance Team, ensuring that all financial activities, records and transactions are completed accurately and on time. This will include daily, month-end, quarterly and year-end reporting. As the new Financial Controller, you will: Management: Act as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, collaborating with the MD, parent company leaders, and site management on strategic and operational matters. Lead the Finance team, including recruitment, training, performance reviews, and development. Drive continuous improvement in operational systems and practices through strong leadership. Manage finance and general management projects from initiation to completion. Provide financial guidance across the business where qualified. Present financial results at monthly management meetings. Monthly/Quarterly/Annual Accounts: Prepare and review monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts. Produce budgets and forecasts for the parent company, including variance analysis. Upload financial data to the parent company's ERP system (HFM) within deadlines. Monitor cashflow, manage the cashbook, and report to MD and parent company. Oversee all transactional finance functions (e.g., purchase/sales ledger, credit control). Ensure payroll, expenses, employee benefits, and HMRC reporting are timely and accurate, coordinating with HR and the MD. Maintain accurate fixed asset records and oversee capital expenditure requests with ROI analysis. Manage journal entries, intercompany transactions, and balance sheet reconciliations. Ensure compliance with VAT, Intrastat, and corporation tax deadlines. Support the Systems and Compliance Officer on finance matters when needed. Reporting and Analysis: Provide ODBC, Syspro, KPI, labour, and ad-hoc reports to support decision-making. Deliver analysis of customer sales, margins, and financial trends. Regularly review financial plans to identify opportunities to enhance margins and profits. Ensure compliance with parent company standards (SPI), UK GAAP, and maintain strong internal controls. Manage relationships with auditors for the UK year-end audit. Ensure all financial reporting aligns with regulations, legislation, and best practices. Stay current on financial reporting and tax regulations, implementing necessary changes within the business. Key Qualifications & Skill required for this role: Essential: Qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAEW/CIMA/ACCA) Extensive experience in a finance role up to Financial Controller level, in a manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Costing Analyst Experience Good understanding of Inter-Co pricing structures Good understanding of the full range of financial and taxation reporting requirements. Extensive experience of managing budgets, forecasts, cashflow and capex requests IT skills to include Microsoft Office, including Excel to advanced level. Good experience of using a computerised finance or ERP system. Knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) software or similar (or willing to learn).
