An exciting opportunity has arisen in Performance and Data Analytics within the Kent Analytical Team for a Data Analyst to play a key role in transforming data into actionable insights.
Data is at the heart of our department, and we see the ability to embed data-driven insight into the fabric of daily management as a core driver of operational Policing.
As a Data Analyst, you will be at the forefront of facilitating data-driven decision making across the force, working closely with senior leadership to structure, analyse and drive outcomes for complex and strategic problems.
You will design, develop, and maintain Power BI Dashboards and Reports that provide critical insights. You will work closely with internal and external customers to understand requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and create data models and visualisations that help drive performance and decision-making.
You will be required to present and visualise reports and findings in a way which resonates with both technical and non-technical audiences at the appropriate level to ensure they are kept updated on areas of tactical and strategic risk.
Key Responsibilities of the role include:
* High proficiency at creating end-to-end reporting solutions, including data extraction, cleansing, analysis and report building by utilising data exploration, data planning and generating insights.
* Carry out thoughtful, challenging and constructive analysis by producing and maintaining regular performance reports and dashboards to create compelling Evidence-Based and actionable data stories to share with stakeholders to drive decisions
* Work with large datasets from multiple sources and integrate them into Power BI and strategic report writing, such as problem profiles.
* To identify key hypotheses and assumptions, quantifying and challenging throughout
* A good understanding of statistics and the ability to apply statistical methods to their modelling and analysis, identify trends and patterns to support strategic initiatives.
* Work with a variety of qualitative and quantitative data, ensuring data and analysis is of high quality and accuracy.
* Developing natural language processing solutions for document analysis and data extraction.
A successful Data and Insights Analyst should have:
* Have a minimum of a math-based A level or equivalent with statistical experience, or proven and well-evidenced, relevant experience in an analytical environment working with large datasets and delivering data insights.
* Data driven mind set with strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
* You will have advanced IT skills which will include Microsoft Office 365 and a proficiency in data visualisation tools and techniques.
* You will have outstanding communication skills to deliver presentations to a wide-ranging audience, write reports and present data in an appropriate format.
* You should be motivated, resilient, and organised with the ability to work independently whilst remaining part of a wider analytical community and prioritise your own workload.
* You will have an eye for detail, inquisitive and, above all, will need to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Previous experience collaborating with Data Engineers and Data Scientists to model and deliver large data sets and analytical report and working with multiple data visualisation tools and techniques including Advanced Excel, SQL, PowerBI and other programming languages would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.
