AtkinsRéalis has one of the Rail industry’s largest signalling engineering teams. You will be joining an AtkinsRéalis Telecoms discipline. This, together with AtkinsRéalis' broader cross-discipline capability, means engineers have an unrivalled collective knowledge to tap into and learn from.
Your Purpose:
We are currently recruiting for a Telecoms Site Engineer to become a key member of the team, capable of delivering and managing all aspects of Telecoms installations and contract management within the Rail sector.
Operational Communications installation including but not limited to:
* FTN, FTNx & Legacy installation experience.
* Installation of fibre & Copper cabling systems.
* VOIP Installation.
* CAT5 & 6 Installations.
* Disconnection and At-Risk Management.
* Telephony – Lineside SPT, PZT, ETD and Direct Line.
* Our Telecoms group has a proven record in project delivery from large to small multi/single discipline projects, providing engineering support and assurance on regional and national rail frameworks throughout the UK and NI.
What you can bring:
As part of your role, you will be responsible for:
* Ensuring tasks are completed safely, on time, and to quality standards.
* Assisting in detailed project planning.
* Ensuring design, materials, and plant are available and inspected.
* Accurately recording daily progress and reporting variances.
* Ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, proposing improvements as needed.
* Managing and coordinating drawings and plans, interfacing with design and engineering teams to resolve issues.
* Maintaining configuration control and supporting change documentation.
* Monitoring technical requirements, including contractor quality assurance and adherence to plans.
* Contributing to change control logs and supporting change management.
* Supporting project schedules and advising on risks.
* Cooperating with safety, quality, and environmental objectives, and supporting continuous improvement.
* Conducting safety and quality inspections and implementing improvement plans.
* Building effective relationships with staff, subcontractors, and project teams.
* Reviewing and approving subcontractor work per Inspection and Test Plans.
* Supporting design change resolution and constructability reviews.
* Providing installation documents to CRE.
* Installing and splicing optical fibre.
* Terminating lineside copper cable.
* Installing telecom equipment and racks.
* Deploying and testing IP networks.
* Interpreting and implementing technical designs, familiar with TENE standards.
* Coaching and mentoring junior staff.
Essential Attributes, Skills & Qualifications:
* Relevant trade/construction experience.
* Driving Licence.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Project safety management experience.
* Knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
* Basic IT skills for document management.
* Copper cabling installation, termination, and testing.
* Telecoms equipment installation.
* FTN/x installation experience.
* City & Guilds 3668 External Fibre Optic Jointing and Testing.
* OLEC 1 qualification.
* PTS (AC & DCCR).
Desirable Attributes, Skills & Qualifications:
* Understanding of IP network deployment.
* COSS qualification.
* IRSE 2.2.110v6 Telecoms installer qualification.
* Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS).
