Consultant Paediatrician

Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive paediatric assessment and ongoing care for children and young people referred to the Gender Service.
* Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to develop personalised care plans and improve pathways for children and young people.
* Contribute to service development, clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.
* Develop pathways and protocols to improve care for children with complex needs.
* Participate in safeguarding processes and holistic risk assessment.
* Support teaching, training and supervision of junior medical staff and multidisciplinary colleagues.
* Engage in research and service evaluation where appropriate.
* Provide medical leadership alongside the Service Lead and Service Manager to achieve strategic objectives of person‑centred care, set performance targets and ensure high‑quality integrated care.
* Support the clinical director with monitoring quality of clinical care, risk management and quality improvement strategy.
* Promote effective multi‑disciplinary working within the specialty and collaborate with other stakeholders.
* Supervise junior staff and participate in departmental and local authority meetings related to strategic planning.
* Engage in CPD activity, audits, and the clinical governance programme.
* Contribute to teaching and training of undergraduates, postgraduates and health personnel in partner agencies.
* Develop research interests within the area of expertise.
Person Specification
* GMC registration with licence to practise.
* GMC Specialist Registration for Community Paediatrics, or within 6 months of obtaining such registration.
* MRCPCH or equivalent.
* Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in relevant Paediatric specialty (dual accreditation in General Paediatrics or Community Paediatrics) or evidence of senior community paediatrics experience for at least 3 years (independent and unsupervised).
* Level 3 Child Safeguarding training.
* Valid BLS training.
* Higher degree (e.g. MSc, DCH, DCCH, MBA or postgraduate qualification).
* Valid APLS and NLS training.
