Secondary School Administrator (Attendance Officer)

Hours: 37 hours per week. (Mo-Th 08:00-16:00 & Fr 08:00-15:30)
Are you a highly organised and proactive individual with a passion for supporting student success? Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated School Administrator with a focus on Attendance to join the admin team in one of our partner secondary schools in Cardiff. This is a vital role within our administrative support staff, ensuring the smooth running of daily school operations and the accurate monitoring of student attendance.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and maintain accurate attendance records for all students
Follow up on student absences in a timely and professional manner
Communicate effectively with parents/carers, staff, and external agencies regarding attendance issues
Produce attendance reports and support the school in identifying patterns and areas of concern
Support general administrative duties including reception cover, data entry, and filing
Assist with pupil records and documentation
Uphold school safeguarding procedures and data protection policies
Person Specification:
Essential:
Previous experience in a school or office-based administrative role
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
A friendly, professional, and approachable manner
Desirable:
Experience using SIMS (School Information Management System)
Knowledge of school attendance procedures and safeguarding practices
Understanding of Welsh Government attendance reporting requirements
