Majestic is the UK’s largest specialist wine retailer with over 200 stores nationwide. Established in 1980, the company has recently transitioned back to private ownership following Fortress Investment Group’s acquisition and has launched an ambitious transformation plan. Our range features over 1,100 wines, spirits, and beers both online and in-store, supported by over 1,000 WSET-trained colleagues providing knowledgeable, friendly service.
The Role
As a Majestic Trainee Manager, you will undertake a 12-month development program designed to give you comprehensive operational, service, and leadership experience, preparing you to become a Store Manager. You will follow a structured career pathway with support from your Store Manager to ensure your success.
Key Responsibilities
At Majestic Wine, our Customers are central to everything we do. You will serve as a store ambassador, supporting your team to deliver outstanding shopping experiences.
* Drive store performance by maximizing sales opportunities and improving KPI metrics.
* Deliver outstanding customer service to foster loyalty and repeat business.
* Offer personalized VIP concierge services, including product updates and tastings.
* Share your passion for our products through in-depth knowledge, managing tastings, and creating engaging tasting counters.
* Enhance your wine knowledge continually to support your WSET qualifications and sales confidence.
* Maintain the store’s appearance and ensure operational standards are met both internally and externally.
* Participate in all operational tasks to understand daily store functions—from stock delivery to customer outreach.
* Identify and implement improvements to optimize store operations.
* Ensure compliance with all policies, safety standards, and legal requirements.
* Take ownership of your personal development using available resources and support.
* Lead by example, embodying Majestic’s Ways of Working and supporting junior team members.
Knowledge & Skills Required
* Experience in a fast-paced, target-driven retail or hospitality environment.
* Ability to deliver exceptional customer service consistently.
* Strong prioritization and problem-solving skills under pressure.
* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in teams.
* Proactive attitude with a passion for resolving challenges.
* Resilience and adaptability to changing business needs.
* Excellent communication and time management skills.
* Wine knowledge is beneficial, but a strong desire to learn and pass WSET levels 2 & 3 is essential.
* Hold a full UK/EU/EEA driving license for at least 12 months with no more than 6 penalty points.
