University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations.
Vacancies have arisen for the position of Sterile Services Technician working at Royal Stoke Hospital, cover will also be provided at the County Hospital, Stafford as required.
This is a fully flexible job role and shift patterns may be changed at short notice.
Shift Patterns
Predominantly working core shifts of 14:00 to 22:00 Monday through to Sunday with a day off in the week and working either a Saturday or Sunday. Cover for all shifts will be arranged on an ad‑hoc basis. Weekend working is incorporated within working hours, and will be between 08:00 – 20:00 on a Saturday and Sunday between 08:00 – 23:30. On‑call and bank holiday working on rota are essential. Pay scale – Band 2 plus enhancement pay after 20:00 as per Agenda for Change terms and conditions.
Role Responsibilities and Unit Overview
The Hospital Sterilisation and Disinfection Unit services include the supply and maintenance of surgical instruments including flexible endoscopes used in surgical and medical procedures. These items are checked into the department after use, then they are cleaned, disinfected, packaged, sterilised and delivered back to operating theatres, wards, departments, clinics and GP surgeries.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should be educated to GCSE level and have basic computer skills as the position involves daily use of a PC. You will be required to read small letters on instruments and follow written instructions. There will be a short test as part of the interview process and a full tour of the unit will be given. No experience is necessary as we will train you.
The successful candidate will have high standards, show a genuine interest in healthcare and patient safety, and be able to deliver high quality work to tight deadlines.
