The Role
As an IT/Server Engineer, you will work with project managers and technical leads to provide technical leadership and support to IT projects and programmes. Day‑to‑day, you’ll use your SME knowledge to lead the delivery of complex technical tasks, supporting projects across the full lifecycle from conception to in‑service.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
* Technically lead small projects or parts of larger projects by managing a small technical team to deliver solutions using best practice.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
* Work to time and budget, identifying problems, providing pragmatic solutions and delivering outputs.
Essential Experience Of The IT/Server Engineer
* Proven interpersonal/communication skills in conveying complex information.
* Experience working on a range of engineering projects.
* Good motivation and drive to see issues addressed.
* Ability to stimulate creative ideas and integrate contributions into professional, deliverable solutions.
* Experience with a broad range of concepts and principles within the IT domain.
* Commercial awareness and understanding of the market relevant to your discipline.
Essential Qualifications For The IT/Server Engineer
* A degree in Science or Engineering, or an equivalent nationally recognised professional qualification.

This role is 37 hours per week based at Portsmouth.
Portsmouth Technology Park (PTP) is one of QinetiQ’s key facilities, focusing on advanced technology development and engineering services. It is dedicated to research and development, ensuring that complex systems are designed, integrated, and tested effectively to meet operational requirements. The facility utilises sophisticated modelling and simulation techniques to analyse and predict performance.
