Job Description
3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• Bromsgrove District and Redditch Borough Council are seeking an experienced Homeless & Housing Solutions Officer to support increased service demand.
• This is a 3-month agency assignment within Community & Housing Services, working on homelessness prevention, housing options and case management.
• The role is hybrid, with 2 days per week on site in Redditch and the remainder working from home.
• The post is inside IR35 and offers a fast-paced environment supporting vulnerable households.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Manage a caseload of homelessness and housing options cases in line with current housing legislation.
• Assess homelessness applications and make legally robust decisions under the Housing Act 1996 (as amended).
• Deliver homelessness prevention and relief duties, identifying suitable housing solutions.
• Provide tailored housing advice and support to individuals and families at risk of homelessness.
• Prepare clear, accurate case notes, decision letters and statutory documentation.
• Liaise effectively with internal teams, registered providers, private landlords and partner agencies.
• Work to tight deadlines in a high-demand environment while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
• Contribute to service targets and performance requirements.

Skills/Experience:
• Proven experience in homelessness services or housing options within a local authority or similar setting.
• In-depth working knowledge of housing legislation, including homelessness duties and case management.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess complex cases.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage a high caseload in a fast-paced environment.
• Confident working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Experience using housing management or case management systems (desirable).

Additional Information:
• Location: Redditch Borough Council, Town Hall, Walter Stranz Square, Redditch, B98 8AH.
• Working pattern: 37 hours per week, hybrid (2 days on site).
