My client is a well-established, privately owned construction and infrastructure company in the UK. They provide a range of services, primarily focused on utilities (water, wastewater, energy, and telecoms), civil engineering, and traffic management.
They have an opportunity for a qualified Lead Health & Safety Advisor to join their team working in their Southern Water Contract.
The Role:
My client is a company that helps inspire and support their busy operational teams to execute their work consistently, using “best in class” health and safety practices. You’ll be empowered to decide how best to achieve this.
You’ll be supported and encouraged to observe operational challenges on site and seek practical H&S solutions and helpful advice delivered in a motivating style.
You’ll be encouraged to create communication strategies that resonate and inspire, including in-person conversations.
If you enjoy working in a fast-paced and sometimes transient environment, which is not restricted to a single site, here are some activities you’ll be involved in:
* Managing and executing site inspections
* Advising on and setting operational team safety objectives
* Supporting and investigating accidents and incidents
* Contributing to tenders and bids
* Assessing external environments for safe working
* Identifying gaps in the H&S management system and recommending improvements
* Developing and implementing new initiatives or sharing best practices
* Advising on and communicating new working practices in line with legislative requirements and best practices
* Promoting and supporting the behavioural/culture change program – ThinkSafe
* Encouraging Safety Observations and Hazard Reporting
We are interested in hearing from you if you can demonstrate:
Experience leading a team of H&S Advisors, with strong professional, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Originality and H&S expertise are essential for success. You should demonstrate an innovative approach to H&S problem solving, along with significant experience in a H&S advisory role, underpinned by a thorough understanding of current HSE legislation.
Holding or working towards a Level 6 H&S Diploma with appropriate professional membership, such as IOSH/IIRSM or equivalent, is required.
Relevant industry experience would be highly advantageous.
