Full Job Description
Reporting to: Principal Ecologist or Environment and Planning Manager
Work Base: Bath, with travel to projects/sites across the region, including Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset, and South Gloucestershire.
Background
Working within the Environment and Planning team, which includes the Ecology Team, providing a wide range of environmental support to engineering and construction colleagues to facilitate the delivery of our capital programme.
You will deliver services such as ecological surveys, ecological impact assessments, protected species work, mitigation, and construction support. The ecology team supports diverse projects from outline design through to completion.
Job Role
To undertake ecological assessments of capital programme schemes and provide ecological advice to engineering, construction, and operational staff to ensure compliance with current legislation and company environmental policies during asset development.
Requirements
1. Competent in UKHab and protected species appraisal surveys.
2. Experience working with protected species such as great crested newts, badgers, bats, reptiles, water voles, etc.
3. Great Crested Newt survey license (preferable).
4. Strong ecological report writing skills.
5. Experience working on construction sites.
6. Clean driving license and access to own transport are essential.
7. 3+ years relevant experience preferred.
8. A proactive and flexible approach with a focus on successful project delivery.
9. Good IT skills and experience with GIS systems.
You must be able to demonstrate proof of skills gained and eligibility to work in the UK.
