CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent Part-time (0.8 EFT/ 28 hours per week )
DEPARTMENT: BBC RADIO BRISTOL
LOCATION: Bristol
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Include salary range including currency icon e.g. £24,800 - £33,400 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Please note this role is to work on live radio shows in the studio and on live events so working from home is not possible.

This role is advertised as part of our BBC Extend programme for disabled people. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join the BBC Radio Bristol team and work on exciting programmes like the Joe Sims Breakfast Show, helping them put the show together and be involved in live outputting of the programme.You will have ideas for what to do on the programme that day, find and set up guests, record and edit audio, read travel reports on air and have the technical ability to share our best bits with other BBC platforms. This role will also focus on putting on events in our communities. It will require some weekend working and a good knowledge of how to run events safely.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
* Ability to work flexibly across a range of shift times and days – some shifts start at 6am, others don’t finish til 10pm. Ability to work to a rota across a 7 day a week broadcasting schedule, so you work 4 x 8 hour days including a lunchbreak. Rota is published 5 weeks in advance, locked at 2 weeks.
* Writing and presenting Travel Bulletins live on air as well as talking confidently on air with the presenter
* Ability to help run live events
* Editing and processing audio from all platforms for broadcast and sharing radio material with all BBC outlets
* Sourcing guests to a deadline while a radio show is on air
* Understanding of legal media law and BBC Producer Guidelines where relevant to live radio
Essential Criteria
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* A good knowledge of how to run events including technical expertise, branding and safety.
* Ability to write scripts for and to present Travel Bulletins live on air under pressure and talk to presenter on air as required.
* Technical knowledge of live radio studio operations. Including use of Open Media, Dira and Bionic and the ability to edit material from all platforms for broadcast.
* Excellent organisation and people skills when dealing with callers and members of the public.
* Ability to source guests to a deadline while a radio show is on air.
