Job Description:

What you will be doing:
The role involves being one of 2-3 aircraft and vehicle performance engineers in the Rolls-Royce Future Platforms team, part of Group R&T. You will develop and maintain aircraft, aerodynamics, and noise capabilities, and engage with internal/external stakeholders to investigate novel systems and aircraft. Activities may include prop/openfan integration, aircraft performance assessment, and methodologies for BWB/TWB or all-electric assets, supporting RR's core strategy and futureproofing.
The team influences R&T investments, collaborates with industry peers, and supports disruptive technology development, including projects like the Rolls-Royce eVTOL and Hydrogen Accelerator.
Responsibilities:
* Apply understanding of aircraft/vehicle/system performance to design and appraise new concepts.
* Maintain tools for aircraft aerodynamics performance, including advanced concepts like BWB, TBW, open fan, and electric aircraft.
* Understand gas turbine and powerplant operations, integrating and managing interfaces.
* Design systems using Systems Engineering principles, including Robust Design tools.
* Manage system requirements, product changes, and technical investigations.
* Verify system compliance and ownership of standardization reports.
Who we're looking for:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Strong knowledge in aircraft design/performance, mechanical design methodologies, and cross-discipline engineering concepts.
* Ability to apply logical and innovative thinking to technical problems.
* Knowledge of product integrity, liability, and certification processes.
