Job overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 Team Lead Nurse to provide clinical and operational leadership to the Special School Nursing Service in Brent. You will lead a dedicated team supporting children and young people with complex and additional health needs across four special school settings, enabling them to safely access education and achieve their full potential.
Working collaboratively with families, education providers and multi‑agency partners, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality, inclusive and person‑centred care, while driving service development and improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
Main duties of the job
* Provide line management to the team and clinical support to ensure a safe service is delivered while adhering to CLCH policies.
* Provide strong clinical and professional leadership to the Special School Nursing Team, ensuring safe, effective and high‑quality care delivery across the service.
* Line manage and support staff through supervision, appraisal, and ongoing professional development, fostering a positive and high‑performing team culture.
* Oversee the assessment, planning and review of care, ensuring robust healthcare plans are in place to support children in educational settings.
* Work collaboratively with families, schools and partner agencies to coordinate care and support children with complex health needs.
* Ensure compliance with safeguarding, clinical governance, and organisational policies, promoting best practice and patient safety.
* Lead on service development, quality improvement and audit activity to continuously enhance the service and meet local and national priorities.
* Represent the service at internal and external meetings, advocating for the needs of children and young people with SEND.
* Support the integration of health, education and social care services to improve access, reduce inequalities and deliver joined‑up care.

Person specification
Education/Qualification
* RGN, RSCN, RN(Child) or LD Nurse
* NMC Registration
* Evidence of post registration education to diploma/degree level
* Teaching qualification
* Level 3 Safeguarding course
* HV/SN/Children’s Community Nursing / Specialist
Experience
* Extensive experience in post registration work in the community
* Nursing experience at Band 6 of nursing children with special needs and/or complex health needs
* Experience of key working
* Experience of managing a caseload
* Experience of teaching
* Experience of liaising/negotiating with professionals
Skills and Knowledge
* Knowledge of the NMC Professional Codes and Standards
* Knowledge of Personal Development Planning
* Knowledge of Clinical Governance and its implementation
* Knowledge of purpose and value of Clinical Supervision
* Understanding of and commitment to Equal Opportunities
