SEN Teacher – Sunderland
MPR/UPR + SEN Allowance (SEN1)
Permanent and Fixed-Term Roles Available
Start Date: September 2026
Want a teaching role where the small wins mean everything?
We’re working with a welcoming SEN school in Sunderland looking for teachers who bring patience, creativity and a real passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
Whether you’re already in SEN or looking to move into a specialist setting, this is a place where you’ll be supported to grow and find your feet.
What makes this role different?
This isn’t about rushing through lessons or chasing targets. It’s about:
* Building trust with pupils who need consistency
* Celebrating progress that looks different for every child
* Teaching in a way that adapts to the individual, not the timetable
You’ll be working with pupils with severe and complex needs, including autism, across a range of curriculum pathways.
What you’ll be doing:
* Creating engaging, sensory and personalised learning experiences
* Supporting communication development in creative ways
* Working closely with a skilled team around each pupil
* Helping pupils develop independence and life skills
What we’re looking for:
* QTS (essential)
* A genuine interest in SEN and inclusive education
* Patience, resilience and a positive mindset
* Someone who’s happy to learn, adapt and grow every day
SEN experience is a bonus, but not essential if your attitude and values are right.
What you’ll get in return:
* A supportive team that helps you build confidence in SEN
* Access to ongoing training and development
* A rewarding role where you can see your impact daily
* Opportunities to work across different specialist provisions
