Academy Trainer - Band 5 (Full-Time/Part-Time Hours)
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Band 5 healthcare professional to join the Clinical Education Team within the Academy at Great Western Hospital. This part-time position is dedicate to supporting and delivering essential training to staff across the Trust; driving safe, competent and high-quality patient care.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and positive individual who is passionate about teaching and supporting the professional development of others. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality learning and clinical practice by delivering education in both clinical practice and classroom-based settings.
You will collaborate with colleagues to support the development of learners across all non-medical disciplines, including students, new recruits, preceptees and trainees. This role presents a rewarding opportunity to help contribute to the growth and capability of the clinical workforce.

Main duties of the job
As an Academy Trainer, you will play a vital role in enhancing and promoting educational standards within the Trust. You will work closely with both registered and non-registered employees, students and other learners to ensure that all individuals receive necessary training and support to excel in their roles.
You will support the development and continuous improvement of the clinical learning environment to meet the evolving needs of the workforce. This includes delivering high-quality training, implementing educational policies that align with Trust standards, and ensuring inclusive access to learning opportunities for all employees and students.
In this role, you will maintain your clinical accountability through regular clinical shifts, ensuring your knowledge and clinical competencies remain up to date with evolving clinical practices and you maintain your professional practice. You will deliver ward based clinical training cross the organisation to support staff development and maintain high standards of care. You will also supervise employees, providing guidance and support to help develop their skills and build confidence in both clinical and educational settings.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered healthcare professional with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Teaching or education-related qualification
* Manual Handling qualification or a willingness to obtain one.
* Fire Warden Training Certificate or willingness to obtain one
* Immediate Life Support Certificate
Experience
* Recent clinical experience in an acute or community healthcare setting
* Recent experience in education and/or training
* Recent experience in performing physical skills that involve manipulating objects for teaching and demonstration purposes, such as cannulation
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
