Are you an experienced Health and Safety Manager looking for a new challenge in a dynamic and supportive work environment? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Health and Safety Manager to join our Finance and Property Service, reporting to the Estate Services Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the effective management of health and safety across a diverse range of services within the Council.
Responsibilities
* Leading and managing the Health and Safety Team to ensure the effective delivery of health and safety services
* Advising and supporting managers and employees on health and safety matters to ensure compliance with legislation and best practices
* Conducting risk assessments and implementing appropriate control measures
* Monitoring and reporting on health and safety performance, including the analysis of incidents and near misses
* Developing and delivering health and safety training programmes
* Collaborating with trade union representatives on health and safety issues
* Keeping up-to-date with relevant legislation and industry standards
About You
* Extensive knowledge and experience in health and safety management, ideally within a local authority or similar environment
* Relevant professional qualifications, such as NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
* Strong leadership and people management skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
* Proactive and pragmatic approach to problem-solving
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
