Role Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Accounts Supervisor to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who combines strong purchase ledger experience with a broader understanding of accounting processes and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the purchase ledger function while supporting wider finance operations. This role would suit someone who enjoys working autonomously, is confident improving processes, and has the technical capability to contribute beyond day-to-day transactional accounting.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise and manage the Purchase Ledger function, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
* Post and maintain accounting ledgers in accordance with company procedures.
* Reconcile supplier statements and proactively investigate and resolve discrepancies.
* Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure effective management of accounts payable activities.
* Assist with month-end processes and reporting requirements.
* Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
* Identify opportunities to improve existing processes and implement more efficient ways of working.
* Support the adoption and utilisation of finance systems, including new technologies and AI-enabled tools where appropriate.
* Ensure compliance with company policies and financial controls.
* Provide support across the wider finance team as required.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Strong experience within a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable environment.
* Good working knowledge of accounting principles and ledger management.
* Experience reconciling supplier statements and resolving account queries.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Confident communicator with excellent relationship-building skills.
* Proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
* Good IT skills and experience using finance systems.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
* AAT qualified
* Strong systems aptitude with an interest in technology and automation.
* Experience working with AI-enhanced finance systems or process automation tools.
* Previous involvement in finance process improvement projects.
