We’re offering a fantastic opportunity for a General Building Engineer to join our team on‑site at HMP Stocken—working on a secure, long‑term contract where your skills genuinely make a difference. At Amey, we support His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), helping to keep prisons safe, secure and running smoothly. This is a hands‑on, varied role where no two days are the same.
HMP Stocken is a well‑established, modern Category C prison located near Oakham, offering a structured, professional working environment with a strong focus on rehabilitation and skills development. What you will do
Working as part of the facilities team, you’ll carry out a mix of planned and reactive maintenance tasks, including:
* General building maintenance and minor repairs across site
* Supporting fire safety systems (extinguishers, fire doors, alarms)
* Emergency lighting checks and testing
* Water safety tasks (temperature checks, flushing)
* Assisting with security systems such as CCTV and alarms
* Managing jobs and updates through CAFM systems
This is a multi‑skilled role, ideal for someone who enjoys variety and problem‑solving.
