It Safety Assurance Engineer - Sc Clearance Required
We are seeking an experienced Safety Assurance Engineer to support the delivery of safety‑critical systems within a regulated and secure environment. You will play a key role in ensuring systems are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose across the full project lifecycle.
This role requires active Security Check (SC) clearance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and support safety assurance activities across complex engineering projects
* Produce and maintain safety documentation, including Safety Plans, Hazard Logs, Safety Cases, and Assurance Reports
* Conduct hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation activities (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA)
* Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g. DEF STANs, EN standards, ALARP principles)
* Work closely with systems, software, and hardware engineers to embed safety into designs
* Support safety reviews, audits, and stakeholder engagement, including customers and regulators
Essential Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a Safety Assurance Engineer in a safety‑critical domain (e.g. defence, rail, aerospace, nuclear, automotive)
* Strong knowledge of safety engineering principles and lifecycle assurance
* Experience producing safety cases and associated evidence
* Familiarity with UK safety and regulatory standards
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Active SC Clearance
