Mental Health Transformation Manager

Are you passionate about improving Mental Health services and driving meaningful change across a complex health and care system? We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Mental Health Transformation Manager to join our Operations and Transformation Directorate and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our services.

You will support the Head of Transformation in delivering the Trust's transformation, improvement, and digital optimisation priorities. You will work closely with clinical and operational colleagues to map and analyse pathways, identify opportunities for standardisation and efficiency, and design improved processes that enhance patient experience and reduce unwarranted variation.

The role offers the opportunity to lead and contribute to divisional transformation portfolios, including pathway redesign, productivity improvements, and the development of future state operating models. You will bring high‑quality analytical insight, programme management discipline, and a collaborative approach to ensure improvements are evidence‑based, measurable, and sustainable.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of transformation initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and consistency across operational and administrative processes within the mental health division.
  • Work collaboratively with digital, operational, and corporate teams to identify opportunities for automation, standardisation, and process optimisation.
  • Work with the performance and operations teams to develop and maintain directorate‑wide performance frameworks, ensuring accurate reporting, analysis, and escalation of key metrics for mental health transformation programmes.
  • Lead end‑to‑end process reviews, using recognised improvement methodologies to diagnose issues, map workflows, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Coordinate and contribute to the development of business cases, project documentation, and transformation proposals to support organisational decision‑making for mental health services.
  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders, facilitating change adoption, building consensus, and supporting cultural and behavioural change.
  • Ensure robust governance and risk management across mental health transformation programmes, including maintaining risk registers, action plans, and assurance documentation.
  • Promote continuous improvement, embedding best practice, supporting capability building, and championing innovation across the directorate.

Job responsibilities

Working in line with our Trust values, you will demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to high quality service. You will be a visible and approachable presence within services, building strong relationships with staff, service leads, and system partners. As a positive representative of the Trust, you will support joined up working across pathways and contribute to improved outcomes, better experiences, and a more efficient health and care system.

You will develop materials such as process maps, improvement charters, and patient stories to support teams in planning and delivering change. You will also help identify opportunities for digital innovation, automation, improved use of technology, ensuring transformation activity reflects national best practice, local context, and the voices of patients and staff.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Previously worked in healthcare and/or have a strong understanding of the system.
  • Managing change management programmes and projects.
  • Experience of leading medium to large scale projects through to successful delivery.
  • Experience of partnership working across health/social care organisations, and engaging with clinical staff, patients, and other key stakeholders in collaborative projects.
  • Experience of drafting briefing papers and correspondence.

Qualifications

  • Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to the role.
  • Will provide original certificates to verify qualifications at the point of offer.
