Test and Development Engineer. This role is suitable for Test & Development or Test & Validation Engineers.
Location: Stafford – Fully onsite
Position: Do you have experience in Test & Development of mechanical components or systems used in high-value engineering industries such as Automotive, Aerospace, or Special Purpose Machinery? Do you have experience with APQP, FMEA, & 8D Issue Resolution? If so, please read on!
Contract: 18 months+ (likely to extend), Rate: £42 - £43ph FCSA Umbrella (inside IR35) or £31 - £32.50 PAYE
Work Model: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote after initial training)
The role may suit a graduate with strong mechanical engineering theory and some industry experience or someone gained experience through industry work. We are looking to add two additional members to a close-knit team within this growing company. The position is long-term and part of a significant project.
Test & Validation Engineer - Components
You will be responsible for the end-to-end design and development process for components and systems, providing product ownership through to volume production.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical: Project leadership for the delivery of components & systems on New Product Introduction programs.
2. Development: Validation of components and systems.
3. Technical Leadership: Problem resolution on components & systems.
4. Follow validation plans, coordinate supplier, bench, and engine tests with support from the validation lead.
5. Investigate and resolve technical issues using 8D methodology (containment, root cause diagnosis, corrective actions).
6. Assess test results and data analysis.
Essential Skills Required:
* Strong technical background (degree in mechanical or automotive engineering, or equivalent experience).
* Good understanding of component development & systems.
* Strong APQP experience.
* Ability to carry out complex FMEAs.
* Experience with 8D issue resolution.
* Self-motivated with good task management skills.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
